On the 1st of July, TOUCH Commmunity Services (TCS) celebrated its collaboration with the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) by holding a press conference. This collaboration with MDA marks an important milestone for CRuSH, as it is a new chapter in our journey of heralding cyber-wellness to the nation. In a bid to benefit more schools an dstudents, MDA through the Internet Public Education Fund will be providing funding to CRuSH for the subsidy of CRuSH roadshows, Project and Planet CRuSH. The press conference was held at Tanjong Katong Secondary School, a faithful and valuable client of both the Project and Planet CRuSH. An hour into the preparation, the atmosphere grew tense when there was a sudden power failure. Alternatives were considered and deliberated in the event that the power was not restored by afternoon. A shout of relief and thanksgiving broke into the charged silence when the power came back just half an hour before the start of the press conference! We were sure that it was a stroke of heaven's hand when the power was restored... Fifteen minutes before the actual press conference was about to start, guests and journalists from various publications mingled with our ementors and staff to get a better feel of what CRuSH was all about.
After a short welcome and introduction, the team of TOUCH Cyber Wellness & Sports performed a short skit about cyberspace addictions and the importance of having an older and wiser mentor both online and offline. Skit actors, Jhee and Jiajun had the audience tickled with their funny and meaningful dialogues, addressing the importance of leading a balanced life. After that, a corporate video of CRuSH was shown to the guests for a deeper understanding of what CRuSH is and the services that it provides. Following the screening of the corporate video, TCS Director, Mr Eugene Seow and the MDA Corporate Communications Deputy Director, Mr Toh Yong Chuan gave a speech each. Both parties stressed the relevance of CRuSH in this modern age age and society where Internet usage is widespread. They also cited examples of the necssity for internet and mentoring programmes such as CRuSH. Finally after the speeches, both the press and guests were invited for refreshments. During the refreshment, the press took the opportunity to interact with the e-mentors for an informal question and answer session. TCS and MDA are very pleased with this collaboration and certainly believe that through this, the vision of remaking and transforming the cyber culture positively will come to pass!
