Project CRuSH - The Girls' Brigade

2004 has been an exciting journey for CRuSH, marked by various new beginnings. The latest being the pioneering endeavour of conducting Project CRuSH for The Girls' Brigade - CRuSH's very first partnership with a CCA [Co-Curricular Activity] group. Quite divinely, the venture is also a maiden collaboration between the two participating GB companies. JurongVIlle Secondary School (64th Company) and Henderson Secondary School (60th Company).

It was no mean feat fixing a feasible schedule for both very busy companies. Coupled with the fact that JurongVille and Henderson are geographically miles apart, little wonder all heaved a great sigh of relief after the finalization of details and settled on the promising dates.

CRuSH - Cyberspace Risks and where You Seek Help. Over four Saturdays the girls were initiated into a comprehensive coverage of CRuSH's Cyber Wellness workshops. To cater to the needs of a CCA group CRuSH has customized its workshops to complement the pre-existing brigade activities.

The girls were initially apprehensive about the computer lessons, fearing it would be another classic "I talk, You Listen" scenario. Nonetheless the girls were quickly won over by nignig's [Trainer for GB] sense of humour and intelligent "crap". Using interactive classroom learning and structural games they learnt how to harness the power of the Internet and simultaneously protect themselves from the dangers by wielding the double edged sword circumspectly. As a girl - Chung Xin Yu from JVSS puts it "CRuSH taught me how to be smart on the Internet…"

CRuSH started humbly beginnings in 2001 with our first class of secondary school students. With an exciting vision of what is to come, we hope to partner with all other CCA groups, imparting the message of Cyber Wellness to the youths and changing their lives.
