"Planet CRUUUUSH.ORG!" Sounds familiar? Yes, this was the cheer that was taught to a local school on 23rd May by our humorous CRuSH MC, Jhee (simply call him “G”). This cheer was to help the girls to remember the website address easily. 23rd May was an important day for us as it kickstarted the first in the line of activities that we have prepared to launch CRuSH. Come 28th May, CRuSH is going to be a cool, wholesome and safe online alternative environment for teens to visit and interact. The day’s programme started off with the impressive flash introduction of the website and a brief introduction by Jhee. The students were soon perked up and tickled to laughter by the short skit based on internet safety that was performed by the SBP (Singapore Broadway Playhouse). Most of the audience identified with the scene where the brother and sister were “fighting” over the usage of the computer. What left the deepest impression was most probably when the brother was having an IRC chat with a girl who made up information about herself. He was so “in love” with her that he “floated” with the keyboard while talking to her. However, never to his expectations, this girl turned out to be a blackmailer with a really evil laughter! The
day’s programme ended off with Jhee coming back on stage. Games were
played and prizes were given out to the excited audience. We
hope that the audience has a deeper understanding concerning internet
safety after the show and have come to realize the importance of protecting
ourselves from the underlying dangers in the vast internet environment.
