"I've learnt to prioritise what's important to me because life is more than gaming.

A few years ago, 17-year-old Kenneth Soh's world revolved around computer gaming. Kenneth did not socialise much with his classmates and friends as he would rather spend time with his online or virtual friends. He was also skipping school as often as three to four days a week, and would game late into the night. At the peak of his gaming obsession, Kenneth would game from 12 midnight to 7 in the morning during the Chinese New Year period.

There's more to life than gaming

Cheng En was first exposed to computer gaming when he was in primary school. He would spend hours playing his favourite computer game, Maple Story, as it gave him a sense of achievement. Soon, Cheng En was losing interest in his studies and hardly had time for family and friends. Soon, Cheng En's results started to deteriorate. He barely passed his exams.

How I Overcomed Pornography

I would often play at LAN shops after school till late into the night. Playing the games gave me a sense of achievement. My Parenting Nightmare with Internet Gaming
Since we moved to a new neighbourhood last year, my son lost contact with a group of his old friends. Because he did not make many friends in school, he turned to computer games whenever he was bored. It got so bad that he would play through the night, neglect his studies, and even became violent when I tried to stop him. During this time, he didn’t talk or smile much. I felt lost and helpless and started looking around for help.

From Client to Mentor

Like many youths his age, Wayne enjoyed computer gaming, watching anime, soccer and hanging out with friends. He played computer games like DOTA (Defence of the Ancients), CounterStrike and Maple Story. He used to frequent LAN shops with friends to play DOTA and had a Level 124 MapleStory character.

He used to spend more than 8 hours a day playing his computer games and sometimes he played overnight during school holidays. The games give him a sense of achievement and acceptance which was lacking at home.
